How to Elope in Tuscany, Italy | Destination Wedding

Picture the rolling hills, the enchanting vineyards, and the timeless beauty of Tuscany, Italy. It's not just a place; it's a canvas where love stories are woven into the fabric of its rich history. If you've ever dreamed of having your wedding in this dreamy setting, then you're about to embark on a journey that will turn your dreams into reality. I am here not just as a wedding photographer and planner, but as your partner in crafting an unforgettable experience!

let’s talk venues

Here are some of my absolute favorite locations, whether you are having a 100+ guest wedding or an intimate one.

As for elopements, just you and your love, I would recommend to stay and elope in the area of Val’D Orcia. Stunning views all around and perfect for a ceremony.

things to consider while planning your Tuscany wedding:

  • How easy is it to reach the venue

  • Do we want all the guests to stay in the same location, and if not is there other locations for guests near by?

  • Music restrictions

  • Can you choose your own vendors or do you strictly have to use the ones the venue provides, if so which ones?

  • Is there an indoor option in case of rain?

Paperwork

A symbolic ceremony is the most useful way to get married in Italy. It’s easier to get married in the US and bring your paperwork. If not, bring your passport and birth certificates to Italy. For more information, check our how to elope in Lake Como blog.

Types of symbolic ceremonies:

  • Unity Candle

  • Pouring Sand

  • Blending Paint

  • Beer / Wine Pour

  • Liquor Shots

  • Tie The Knot

ELOPEMENT TIMELINE EXAMPLE

  • 2:30pm Getting ready

  • 3:30pm First look in your accommodation

  • 4:00pm Driving to the ceremony location

  • 5:00pm Golden hour / sunset photos and champagne popping

  • 7:00pm Intimate dinner, first dance + cake cutting.

Experiences:

Car Rental

If you are eloping around Val’D Orcia, I would recommend renting a car from Noleggiare , right by the train station on Chiusi. Tuscany is known for its charming, out-of-the-way villages, each with its own unique character. Public transportation often sticks to major routes and cities, making it difficult to reach these hidden gems. With a rental car, you can easily visit places like Montefioralle, Pienza, or Castellina in Chianti, which may be otherwise inaccessible by bus or train. These quaint villages offer not only breathtaking views but also an authentic taste of Tuscan culture.

Many Tuscan Airbnb properties offer breathtaking views of the countryside, vineyards, or even the iconic rolling hills. Your wedding photos will be nothing short of magical.Reach out to Airbnb hosts early to discuss your wedding plans. They can often provide valuable local insights and may even have recommendations for local vendors. Remember, it's not just about the destination, but the journey as well. Explore Tuscany with your loved ones, savor the local cuisine, and immerse yourself in the Tuscan way of life.
